On behalf of a successful, boutique accountancy firm, we are offering a unique senior opportunity to an Accountant.

This is primarily a remote working role with visits to the firm’s office in Windsor, on average, once or twice per month for team meetings, social-engagement, and client meetings.

You will be given the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients and be the first point of contact. You will take responsibility for all clients’ needs from quarterly reporting, year-end statutory accounts, and business and personal tax.

You will also assist with payroll, VAT and company secretarial work, on larger clients.

You will support the Director, with ad-hoc technical work, and so it is expected that you have a sound technical knowledge regarding issues facing small businesses. You will also be involved with strategic tax planning, group restructuring, financial modelling and general business advisory work.

Your portfolio of clients will largely be limited company business owners. Typical clients have turnover from £500,000, and up to £36 million. The firm has a select and limited number of clients (approx. 100) and as a result, you will benefit from a more personalised relationship with clients.

Reporting to the Managing Director, as Accountant your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, being the first point of contact and maintaining good working relationships to fulfil their accountancy needs to ensure an excellent service
  • Working closely with the in-house accountancy teams of clients
  • Preparation and submission of statutory accounts
  • Management accounts preparation
  • Meet client timeframes and statutory HMRC deadlines
  • Calculating VAT, corporation tax and personal tax, and submitting returns
  • Prepare P11D returns
  • Tax advisory

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the following:

  • Sound core competences and skills in general practice work - Accounts preparation, Corporate and Personal Tax compliance, VAT, Payroll, and company secretarial work
  • Good working knowledge of Xero, Sage, Excel and Iris
  • At least 3 years working in a practice environment
  • Minimum of AAT qualified
  • Able to effectively manage own workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Live within a reasonable commute of Windsor for occasional office visits
