Are you looking for a new challenge?  Would a Client Accountant role based in Newbury be of interest?  Our client, a very successful Top 20 accountancy practice is recruiting for an ambitious person to assist the Directors in managing their portfolio of company, partnership and sole trader clients.  This is very much a hands-on accounts role that will also involve supervision of trainees and semi-seniors.

 

The firm is working on a hybrid working model with three days in the office and two days working from home and the successful candidate will receive an excellent benefits package.

 

As Client Accountant your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Annual accounts preparation for companies, sole traders and partnerships
  • Preparing company tax returns and VAT returns
  • Preparation of quarterly management accounts
  • Reviewing VAT returns prepared by trainees and ensuring VAT deadlines are met
  • Preparation of basic personal and partnership tax computations
  • Assisting trainees in their duties and developing their understanding of rules and regulations through mentoring and coaching, ensuring their knowledge of standards and legislation is up to date by attending CPD courses
  • Assisting clients and employees with complex VAT queries and any general queries they may have
  • Assisting clients with training on cloud software packages and helping them with any queries that arise
  • Liaising and meeting with clients as necessary

 

 

We welcome applications from candidates with the following skills, experience and attributes:

 

  • Ideally be ACCA or ACA qualified, however, exceptional part qualified and qualified by experience applications would be considered
  • Have significant experience gained within a practice environment at accounts senior level
  • A solid understanding of accounting standards, VAT rules and legislation, and basic personal tax knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence with client handling
  • Be IT literate with good knowledge of the main accounting software packages such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
  • Commercial awareness with acute attention to detail
  • Ideally have previous experience of supervising junior team members
