Finance Manager
Our Client is a well-respected healthcare provider which provides a range of services, including long-term nursing and short-term respite care, to the general public. The management team report into a voluntary board of trustees, known as the Council.
Reporting into the CEO, the Finance Manager is placed in a pleasant working environment alongside the Assistant Accountant and other administrative staff. The Finance Manager contributes to the general management of the whole operation and also acts as Company Secretary to the Council. The ability to contribute to systems development would be welcomed.
Key duties include:
- Ensuring compliance with the statutory and regulatory procedures in accordance with the Charities commission and the organisation’s internal policies.
- Completion of statutory accounts to trial balance.
- Preparation and presentation of the financial and activity reports, with written commentary, at quarterly Council meetings and monthly Finance Committee meetings.
- Preparation of the annual business plan, particularly the numerical data, in conjunction with the other members of the senior management team.
- Management and preparation of monthly management accounts including maintenance of control accounts, accruals and prepayments, entry of pay information to nominal ledger, production of reports and analyses, and review of information and results.
- Management/supervision of payroll systems including staff standing data, entry of timesheet data, verification, payslip output and distribution, LloydsLink payment transfer system, production or reports, maintenance of control accounts, year-end processing including P14/P60 sets, P35 data and system year-end.
- Management/supervision of monthly sales invoice production, including collection of pertinent information and invoice production.
- Management/supervision of daily transactions including receipts, payments purchase invoice processing, physiotherapy outpatient invoices, physiotherapy inpatient treatment recording, petty cash transactions and replenishment.
The Finance Manager will deputise for the CEO as requested and have the supervisory experience to manager Finance and HR departments. Participating as a member of the Senior Management Team does require the manning of an on-call phone approximately once every four weeks. This role is envisaged to be in the office.
A senior accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent) is required for this role. Personal requirements include empathy, patience, and an understanding of the demands of managing a 24hr 365 day a year charity.
An enhanced DBS check will be required as part of the induction process.
Parking is available although staff are encouraged to use public transport where possible.
